Jessica Libien
Executive Director
Jessica has been involved with Marin Bocce since 2012 as both a player and staff member. A Marin County native and graduate of St. Ignatius College Preparatory, she was a Junior Pro Tennis Player and an NCAA basketball player. Jessica has won numerous in-house and USBF tournaments and serves as President of the United States Bocce Federation (Western Sector), promoting bocce on a national level and fostering youth involvement in the sport. She has played in the Friday night league for 13 years and, as Executive Director, blends her love for community and sports. Jessica also offers a variety of clinics and private bocce lessons, sharing her expertise and passion for the game with players of all levels. Off the court, she enjoys staying active, tackling creative DIY projects, and spending quality time with her wife, Eve, their family, and friends.

Ed Schmitz
Event Operations
Ed has been part of the Marin Bocce Federation for over 10 years, playing in Monday and Wednesday evening leagues and recently joining a Thursday morning team. His teams have secured multiple first and second-place finishes in league play, as well as tournament success. A retired Accounting Manager and IT Business Systems Analyst, he and his wife, Karen —a former PE teacher—have lived in Marin for 51 years. He loves the MBF community, co-hosting events, and introducing new players to bocce. A passionate sports enthusiast, he and Karen have also enjoyed skiing, tennis, golf, and volunteering at professional golf tournaments. Ed works Friday through Sunday and is a wonderful asset to MBF, bringing dedication and enthusiasm to the community.

Mike Jacobson
Mike started at Marin Bocce in September 2024 and has been a real asset to the team. He also played a key role in helping create this very newsletter, bringing his organizational skills and community focus to MBF communications. A 15- year resident of the Bay Area, he has lived in Gerstle Park since 2020. A bocce enthusiast (though not a pro—yet!), Mike enjoys playing when he can and will be joining the evening league starting in the spring season.
Working at MBF allows Mike to deepen his connections with the community—all while soaking in the sun. A reformed former San Francisco city bureaucrat, he now splits his time between MBF and his passion for woodworking, crafting custom furniture and cabinets for a variety of clients. In his free time, he plays music, takes long walks, and inevitably falls asleep to movies on his couch. Mike lives in San Rafael with his wife, Bonnie, and their dog, Frankie. He can be found working part-time in the office on weekdays, keeping things running smoothly.

Kelli McCafferty
Kelli is a Marin County native and a second- generation Marin Bocce player. She has been playing for over 10 years and has been affiliated with her Thursday night team, the Bada Bings, since nearly the beginning. Following in her parents' footsteps, she continues their legacy by competing on the same Thursday night team they played on from the start. Kelli placed second in a women’s bocce tournament and enjoys the competitive and social aspects of the game. Beyond bocce, she has a passion for billiards, exploring new restaurants, and experiencing live music. Kelli is one of our newest additions to the staff and will be working Monday and Friday night leagues, as well as some Monday morning, weekend, and weekday afternoon events. Welcome, Kelli!

Mike oversees the Tuesday and Wednesday night leagues, ensuring smooth gameplay and an enjoyable experience for all players.
